Field Uniforms

  • All Field Uniforms must be hand washed. Absolutely DO NOT wash in a washing machine.
Wash each piece separately in cold water with mild detergent for hand washables. (Woolite is recommended because it's low sudsing, dissolves, and rinses out completely.)
  • Use a gentle rubbing motion around neck and waistbands, under arms, and along zipper. Do not scrub sequins, as the color will come off. Use care around the fringe or it will unravel.
  • Do not leave garment pieces to soak as colors may bleed, especially red onto white.
Rinse in cold water and squeeze excess water out. Do not wring out fabric. Place garment piece in a thick towel and roll up towel to squeeze out excess water.
  • Hang garment to drip dry. Never place in a dryer.
  • Please allow time to dry before wearing.

White Leather Belt and Gauntlets

  • Do not immerse into water.
  • Use OxyClean to hand wash and spot clean to clear up stains or yellowing that occurs. Use OxyClean sparingly, make into a paste with water. Rub gently, staying clear of the red decorative conchos. Rinse well. Pat dry with towel. Hang up to dry.

White Boots

  • Wipe off loose dirt. Wipe with warm water and Windex for stubborn scuff marks.
  • Use white liquid shoe polish. Scuff resistant shoe polish works well. Allow to dry thoroughly.

White Felt Hats

  • Brush off smudges with an old toothbrush.
  • Really bad smudges (like makeup) can be lightened by brushing with baby powder. It’s easier to keep fingers off the hat than clean it.

Practice Clothes

  • These are yours and you will want them to last. Use a permanent marker (Sharpie) to mark name on inside labels.
  • Sort by color and use a gentle cold-water detergent. Machine wash cold, inside out, gentle cycle.
  • Hang up to drip dry. Only wear Marquette clothes when instructed for Marquette functions.
  • Do not loan out Marquette clothes to non-team members.
